Urgent Update: Closure of the Pandemic Event Visa

The Department of Home Affairs have announced that the subclass 408 AGEE (COVID-19) visa is ceasing from 11:59 PM tonight, 1 September 2023 for all new applicants.

From 2 September 2023, the Pandemic Event visa will only be open to applications from existing Pandemic Event visa holders.

If you intend to proceed with a subclass 408 and you have not already applied, we recommend applying independently or reaching out to us as soon as possible so we can prepare your application. Please note that in order to apply for the subclass 408 visa, you must:

  • Be in Australia
  • Maintain adequate health insurance
  • Have evidence of employment or an offer of employment
  • Hold a substantive visa with work rights that expires in 90 days or less, or that expired 28 days ago or less. Alternatively, if you do not have work rights you must have arrived and remained in Australia since before 21 February 2022.
